Muslims on Xanga
I want to thank all of the Muslims who contribute to Xanga. Frankly I have not had a lot of exposure to Muslims in my life. I enjoy almost all the contributions whether well taken photographs, poetic insights, cultural vignettes, tours of their homes and even the occasional comment on my posts. It’s refreshing to get a direct view and not have to rely on politically slanted news programs. Thanks for being here.

I concur, arthur fonarelli!
They’re some of my favourite Xangans here.
Ahmen brother.
Thank you for this post. You have spoken for many of us. It’s amazing what we can learn when we are willing to listen and observe. As people we are all more alike than we are different.
GREAT post, “Rush”!
yes, indeed!
aawwwe. we do learn much
I concur!
thumbs up!
Thank you very much for this post. It’s people like you, with an open mind and generous heart who can understand and feel the love. I am grateful for this love.
awesome post. Thank you for this.
Well said. I agree.
Yay for Muslims! I also cheer for Mormons.
@ZSA_MD - thank you for your wonderful contributions here
How sweet! =D
Aw. Shucks!
Thank YOU for acknowledging us. Wonderful post. Worth a million recs.
If I wasn’t sort of sick at the moment, I would be a bit teary-eyed instead of sneezy-nosed! -Muslim Xangan
Thank you for recognizing just how wonderful our Xummah are and what contribution they make to Xanga.
@versatil - I hope you feel better soon

This is so, so nice of you. Much appreciated.

Well said!
I so agree. It’s all about learning more and building relationships with real people instead of listening to hype and stereotypes.
@OhItWontBeForever - It’s you!
Very true! I don’t know many Muslims in real life either… the ones on Xanga give me a great insight into their lives, culture, and religion. But even more, they give me a beautiful glimpse into themselves as PEOPLE.
Like!
very noble of you to speak up for such a great group of people here on xanga.
@ThePrince - (and others) Actually, I’m not sure how to react to all the ‘thank you’s” It seems that the Muslim members of Xanga do a pretty good job of speaking for themselves and I’m the one who benefits from it.
@RushmoreJ - i think it says alot in terms of breaking walls that would otherwise serve as barriers. even though the whole “us vs. them” perception will continue to persist, it is a blessing that, by it’s overall nature, xanga isn’t something that people need to fight over in terms of possession or control. in that light, we can all feel comfortable knowing and expressing ourselves…then extending that courtesy (most of the time) to others regardless of sexual orientation, religion, or ethnicity.
your succint post does that perfectly.
@ThePrince - well said
thanks
Muslims welcome here!
Nice. Any recommendations of blogs I should pick up on?
@justgotspaid - I love to read ZSA_MD and OhItWontBeForever but partly because of this post I am discovering more. A long time favorite who seems to be here on Xanga less (but can be found on Facebook and in print) is the poet, Saadia Ali Aschemann.
Thanks!
Great words!
